Cat Plows Readied for Winter 2012
By Scott Friedstein, FluffPo Correspondent
Weary of maintenance costs and the threat of another long winter, local contractors are abandoning their dated snowplows in favor of a cheaper, cuter alternative: cats.
“In the long run it just made sense,” says Bill Chapman of Plaistow, NH. “People like cats, and they seem to be good in snow.” By his own estimate, Chapman says at least 18 local cats are currently being rounded up for the job ahead.
“It’s never too early to prepare,” says Chapman. “Sure, they’re a little slower. But another winter with old rusty over here? I think not.”

In 1967, Kathrine Switzer was the first woman to run the Boston marathon. After realizing that a woman was running, race organizer Jock Semple went after Switzer shouting, “Get the hell out of my race and give me those numbers.” However, Switzer’s boyfriend and other male runners provided a protective shield during the entire marathon. The photographs taken of the incident made world headlines, and Kathrine later won the NYC marathon with a time of 3:07:29.
